Avian Research Symposium 2022

An online meeting to share and discuss research in avian biology with a focus on highlighting early-career researchers and creating networking opportunities between labs and institutions.

Starts: 8 March 2022 Ends: 10 March 2022

 Chickens 10 Ri 700

The Avian Research Symposium follows the success of a small pilot online meeting in February 2021. The meeting is organised by early career researchers at the Roslin Institute, Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies and The Roslin Institute’s National Avian Research Facility on the Easter Bush Campus in Midlothian Science Zone.

This will be an online event, held on three consecutive afternoons, March 8th-10th 2022.

The symposium aims to raise awareness of exciting research investigating avian biology and using avian model systems. We intend to highlight novel technologies and approaches in avian research, promote interdisciplinary collaboration and encourage researchers unfamiliar with the opportunities provided by using the chick embryo model to join the meeting to learn more.

The programme will be a mix of short and long style presentations. Topics are expected to include avian welfare and husbandry, behaviour, developmental biology, genomics, through to infection and immunity.

Students, researchers, and support staff who work with avian species are invited to present on a broad range of topics.

The closing date for speakers to register is Friday 21st January 2022.
