Into the Blue

Outdoor Photography Exhibition. Witness Scotland's beautiful, diverse marine ecosystems and the inhabitants that thrive in these environments.

Starts: 18 March 2020 Ends: 27 March 2020

Water covers 71% of the Earth's surface and the planet's oceans shape our environments and landscapes, influence our climate and weather systems, and have enabled the rise and fall of civilisations. They give us food and fuel, medicine and minerals, as well as leisure and pleasure. But their supply is finite or fragile, or both – under threat from pollution, global warming and acidification, over-fishing and biodiversity loss. And that's not to mention the threats they pose to us from rising sea levels!

Scotland has some of the most beautiful and diverse marine ecosystems in the world and, in celebration of Scotland's Year of Coasts and Waters, this large-scale outdoor photography exhibition will take you on a fascinating journey around some of Scotland's most remarkable coastlines. Revealing the beauty of coastal landscapes, introducing some of the weird and wonderful inhabitants of the world beneath the waves and exploring the role seas and oceans play in our lives, Into the Blue is the story of our oceans‘ scale and majesty, their biodiversity and potential as well as the threats they face.
