The Data Lab in collaboration with Bayes Centre are leading on a Digitech PhD Work Placement programme under the Data Driven Innovation Entrepreneurship (DDE) Beacon programme funded by the Scottish Funding Council through Data Driven Innovation initiative (Edinburgh and SE Scotland City Region Deal).
The programme will provide the opportunity for up to 20 DigiTech PhD students to undertake paid industry placements which will provide them with experience and insight to commercial environments and the opportunity to conduct research in relation to a real-world business problem.

The students will be paid for their time through the funded project, and there is no financial cost to the organisation to participate in the programme. It is fully funded by the DDE programme and all IP owner is retained by the company, the benefit to the University is giving these PhD students experience of working in a commercial environment.
The programme is open to University of Edinburgh PhD students at all stages of study who are based in a DigiTech hub - The Usher Institute, Edinburgh Futures Institute, Edinburgh International Data Facility, Easter Bush Campus - and are working in a data-related field and The Data Lab will work with host organizations to ensure that a relevant student is matched to your chosen project.
