Roslin Innovation Centre celebrates 12 months

Published: 19 September 2018

Roslin Innovation Centre, the new business gateway at the University of Edinburgh's Easter Bush Campus, opened for business at the end of last summer and welcomed the first tenants in September 2017. Since then additional tenant companies have joined at a rate of at least one each month.

The innovative, state-of-the-art building design offers choice and flexibility to businesses as to the type of space they prefer to operate in, either open and shared or cellular.

Roslin Technologies, the commercialisation arm of the world renowned Roslin Institute and University of Edinburgh’s Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, settled in quickly to open plan office space.

Synpromics Ltd, a leader in gene control, was the first large company to move in to cellular office space and customised labs on the first floor. This was soon followed by a variety of other companies from early stage start-ups to established businesses, all with innovation at their core.

After several months of customisation of both lab and office space on the second floor, Ingenza Ltd, a major biotech company with a team of over 40 relocated from Roslin BioCentre in July.

There’s now a real buzz about the place. The fantastic building, combined with the ecosystem, culture and supportive environment has encouraged, an inspiring and friendly atmosphere.

With 14 tenant companies now occupying 60% of leased space, what better way to mark this milestone than with a tenant gathering to share some coffee and enjoy a slice of cake with a view from the ‘oval office’ on the second floor.
