Run for Fun to raise money for local group at Edinburgh Technopole

Published: 22 April 2015

The fun run, which will take place on the grounds of Edinburgh Technopole on Saturday 27th of June, is being organised in partnership between Edinburgh Technopole and Pentlands Science Park.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Penicuik based Beeslack All Stars Disabled Sports Club who, provide sporting opportunities for children from 5 to 16 years of age who have learning and physical disabilities, and their siblings.

Those looking to register for the event are being asked to do so here where you will then be asked to make donation of £10 for adults and £5 children to confirm your place which will go directly to the All Stars.

A bacon roll and bottle of water will be offered to all those who take part upon completion of their run and there will also be an option to complete a smaller part of the route as an alternative to the 5K.

Edinburgh Technopole Park Manager Judith Sanderson said: “The Bush Estate is one of the most picturesque and naturally beautiful areas in Midlothian and has long been enjoyed by cyclists, joggers and walkers. It is with pleasure and delight that we look to encourage Bush Estate staff, occupiers and local community members to appreciate this beautiful setting and take part in our fun run for such a worthy local cause.”

Pentlands Science Park Manager George Walker said: “Pentlands Science Park is delighted to be able to work with Edinburgh Technopole to deliver this event for our occupiers and the local community. We count ourselves as very lucky to be located in such attractive surroundings and it is fantastic that we are able to use our location and setting to help raise funds for such an important local organisation.”

Seonaid Allan, Chair of the Beeslack All Stars Disabled Sports Club said: “We are absolutely delighted that Edinburgh Technopole and Pentlands Science Park have organised this event in aid of Oor Club.”

“The money raised will help us to continue our vital work with young people with additional support needs and their siblings in the Penicuik and surrounding area. What is even better is that our members are able to participate and have sought sponsorship for completing the race. Events like this are a fantastic way of bringing people together and we are thrilled to be involved.”
