Midlothian Science Zone (MSZ) Business Forum is hosted several times a year to encourage engagement and collaboration between organisations 'in the zone'. We aim to bring together a wide range of businesses to identify shared support needs, collaborative opportunities and share knowledge across the region; signposting to research, expertise and business services.
Guest speakers are invited to present on themes of interest and benefit to our community and our next Business Forum on Tuesday 18th March will be led by Dr Yuanyuan Cheng from Wobble Genomics Ltd.
Wobble Genomics was established in 2021 by Dr Richard Kuo, a spin-out from the Roslin Institute, and following successful seed funding and grants the company began developing its diagnostic platform and starting clinical studies in Breast Cancer, in collaboration with Professor Mike Dixon OBE at the Institute of Genetics and Cancer, University of Edinburgh.
Wobble Genomics became a tenant company at Roslin Innovation Centre and utilised lab and office space and also have office space at Pioneer Edinburgh Technopole. In late 2024, Wobble Genomics emerged from stealth mode showcasing exciting results at major cancer conferences to mark its next phase of development.
Dr Cheng will be talking to us about the full-length RNA from whole blood to provide more accurate information on the status of disease in cancer patients and how they can use this information to detect disease and find better therapies. This will be an excellent opportunity to learn about this ground breaking research, hear about their future plans, and ask questions even if only the reason behind the name!
This event will be hosted at Pioneer Edinburgh Technopole, in the boardroom at Bush House. We invite you to join us for light refreshments and networking, to learn more about the innovative and collaborative science and research community 'in the zone'.
Visitor parking is available to the rear of Bush House.
There is a wealth of facilities and services across Midlothian Science Zone which are accessible to tenant companies, researchers and business. Our events provide a forum to highlight expertise and showcase research, core capabilities, support and the services available, to ignite discussion and opportunities for collaboration with hosts and attendees.
