Pentlands Science Park provides an excellent supported environment for commercial tenants involved in R&D. Also home to the world-leading Moredun Research Institute, leaders in animal health and independently ranked as one of the top ten animal research institutes worldwide.
Pentlands Science Park is set in beautifully landscaped surroundings and was established in 1994, owned by The Moredun Foundation. It is a thriving scientific community providing an ideal location for research and commercial groups. The Park is active in encouraging collaboration between tenants, as part of its commitment to the biotechnology sector.
Co-located within the Moredun Research Institute which has gained an esteemed global reputation, during its 100 year plus history, for its high quality of scientific research focus on improving farm animal health and welfare, through the prevention and control of infectious diseases of livestock.
Current Space Available
Doherty
The Doherty building opened in 1996 and provides high quality office and lab accommodation across the ground and first floor. It is a pavilion design with a large double height atrium with shared facilities on both levels.

Room 9 - currently fitted out as four cellular offices and located on the first floor. Individual rooms can be rented.
Room 18 - currently fitted out as open-plan offices located on the first floor. The space extends to 725 sq ft (67.35 sq m) and can be converted into a lab and or office accommodation.
Glencorse
Glencorse was built in 1999 and located to the rear of the site. It is a two-storey building with lab and office space at ground floor level with a large plant room located on the first floor of the building.

Douglas House was one of the first buildings on the site, completed in 1996. It is located to the front of the site and is a two-storey pavilion building.

Facilities and Services
Pentlands Science Park is a secure environment and offers world-class animal clinical facilities, exclusive to Scotland and which complement laboratory based research. The science park currently extends to 22 acres and provides around 160,000 square feet of high quality laboratory and office space, designed to meet varied requirements, from start-up to mature companies involved in research and development, through to manufacturing and testing.
In recent years, Pentlands Science Park has remained almost fully occupied and outline planning is now approved for a 20 acre site expansion.
A wide range of support services are provided which includes 24-hour security, IT, engineering, waste disposal, central stores, catering, cleaning, café, library, meeting rooms and conference facilities. Tenants also benefit from the wider facilities provided by the Moredun Research Institute.
Meetings and Conferences
On-site conference facilities are flexible and suitable for small informal meetings and workshops, to full day and multi-day conferences including evening and weekend functions.
Facilities include a lecture theatre, fully equipped meeting rooms, video conferencing and audio-visual equipment.
Tenants and visitors have access to the Park Café which offers meals and refreshments throughout the day and provides a selection of catering packages for light receptions and seated dinners.
Collaboration
Pentlands Science Park actively promotes interaction and collaboration between tenant companies and the Moredun Group has active partnerships and collaborations with research institutes and universities - sharing knowledge worldwide.
The Moredun Communications Centre was established in 2007 and has developed new knowledge transfer initiatives. It seeks to form stronger links to provide additional benefits across a broad range of stakeholders including farmers, veterinarians, the scientific community and government policy makers. The Centre has also developed educational links and programmes to engage with schools.

Pentlands Science Park is situated 8 miles south of Edinburgh city centre in attractive landscaped grounds, close to the Pentland Hills and only minutes from Edinburgh Airport, Edinburgh City By-pass and other main transport links.
A link road joins Pentlands Science Park with Pioneer Edinburgh Technopole which brings social and commercial benefits to both parks.
Pentlands Science Park and Moredun Research Institute are at the centre of a world leading animal bioscience cluster in Midlothian Science Zone, and are neighbours to the Roslin Institute on the University of Edinburgh’s Easter Bush Campus which presents additional collaborative opportunities.
